Installation procedure:
Before installing a newer version of the application, please make sure the older one is removed. In order to this please go to:Options > Applications > VippieBBDemo > BB menu button > Delete > Let the device make a full restart
Install procedure on BB phone:
Use web browser to download the .jad file from the server (type URL http://www.callto.net/vippiebb/vippie.jad), new window with install request will appear.
Just accept it and allow application to install. Application will be available in “downloads” folder.
During the first run a window for accepting application permissions will appear - just save the settings.
Obtaining internet connection:
Vippie always tries to automatically detect the best connection method in the following order:
- WiFi - for WiFi enabled devices
- Direct TCP - a connection to be opened from the BlackBerry smartphone without using BlackBerry MDS
Users who cannot establish neither WiFi connection are advised to use direct TCP.
However, this method requires few configuration steps in phone settings:
- under Options > TCP/IP - enable APN Settings (the APN name of your network provider, user name and password fields must be supplied, if necessary)
- optionally register host routing table: Options > Host Routing Table > BB menu button > Register Now (phone restart might be required afterwards)
If there are blinking arrows in the application’s right upper corner while transferring any data (i.e. registration procedure, calling), your internet connection is successfully established.
Troubleshooting:
- Error message “907 invalid cod” is displayed while downloading the application -> please do a hard restart of your device (by pulling the battery out for few seconds)
- Error message “Uncaught Exception: Application () is not responding” - critical error which makes it impossible to enter the application again -> please do a hard restart of your device (by pulling the battery out for few seconds). Please report this error to the author, describing circumstances when this message occurred (especially what connection method has been used)
